Temperature dependent BCS equations with continuum coupling

چکیده
The temperature dependent BCS equations are modified in order to include the contribution of the continuum single particle states. The influence of the continuum upon the critical temperature corresponding to the phase transition from a superfluid to a normal state and upon the behaviour of the excitation energy and of the entropy is discussed. The Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) equations in coordinate representation are solved exactly, i.e., with correct asymptotic boundary conditions for the continuous spectrum. The calculations are performed with effective Skyrme interactions. The exact HFB solutions are compared with HFB calculations based on box boundary conditions and with resonant continuum Hartree-Fock-BCS (HF-BCS) results. The...

متن کاملTransition from the superfluid phase to the normal phase in nuclei far from stability
The contributions of thermal quasiparticle correlations and of continuum coupling upon the superfluid properties of neutron-rich Ni isotopes are studied within the modified BCS approximation at finite temperature. The effect of thermal quasiparticle correlations is included using a secondary Bogolyubov-type canonical transformation explicitly involving the quasiparticle occupation numbers. The ...
متن کاملEvolution from BCS to BEC superfluidity in p-wave Fermi gases.
We consider the evolution of superfluid properties of a three-dimensional p-wave Fermi gas from a weak coupling Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) to strong coupling Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) limit as a function of scattering volume. At zero temperature, we show that a quantum phase transition occurs for p-wave systems, unlike the s-wave case where the BCS to BEC evolution is just a crossov...
